Cubs baseball in August. Ken Holtzman throws a no-hitter, Mark Prior throws his first shutout and Andre Dawson and Billy Williams get their 2,000th hit. Many other August moments in Cubs history. Mark Bellhorn becomes only the 2nd player in major league history to hit home runs from both sides of the plate in one inning against the Milwaukee Brewers. I was at the game!!

The Cubs, Joe Carter gets his first major league hit off Steve Carlton of the Phillies at Veterans Stadium in Phillies 2-1 victory over the Cubs. Carlton strikes out 12 Cubs in the game.

One of the more memorable Cubs games I attended. In Milwaukee, Mark Bellhorn became just the 2nd player in MLB history to hit 2 home runs, one from each side of the plate in the same inning.

Carlos Baerga is the only other MLB player to do this.

Jake Arrieta pitches the first Cubs no-hitter since Carlos Zambrano in 2008. It is Arrieta's first no-hitter (he'll get his 2nd in 2016). Arrieta allows just 2 base runners, one on an error by Starlin Castro and the other a walk to Jimmy Rollins. He strikes out 12 Dodger hitters including striking out the side in the 9th inning to close out the no-hitter.

Cubs defeat the Dodgers 2-0 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

His Cubs career was from 1928 to 1935.

His best year with the Cubs was probably 1930, when he batted .355 with a .428 OBP & .547 slugging % and led the NL in stolen bases with 37. He had 155 runs scored, 228 hits, 50 doubles, 17 triples, 13 home runs & 134 RBI

the birthday of Cubs pitching great, Claude Passeau. Passeau spent 9 years with the Cubs (1939 to 1947)and had a 124-94 record with the team.

He was a 4-time all-star with the Cubs and pitched one of the greatest games in Cubs history when he shut out the Tigers on just 1 hit in Game 3 of the 1945 World Series. The victory gave the Cubs a 2 games to 1 series lead
