September 10, 1961

The debut of 2 prominent Cubs players.   In Ken Hubb's Cubs debut, he gets 2 hits and scores 2 runs and Lou Brock makes his Cubs debut with a hit and a run scored, and 2 errors.

Hubbs becomes the first rookie to win a gold glove (at 2B) while winning rookie of the year honors, but tragically died at the age of 22 in a plane crash.

September 27, 1961
Don Cardwell and the Cubs defeat the Cardinals 5-2 at Wrigley Field.  Ken Hubbs gets both his first MLB home run and his first triple, going
2 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI.


April 17, 1962
Cubs lose to the PIrates 10-6 at Wrigley Field, but Ken Hubbs goes 5 for 5, 4 singles and a double and scores 2 runs.

April 22, 1962, Game 1
Cubs defeat the Cardinals 11-5 in the first game of a doubleheader.  Ken Hubbs goes 3 for 5 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI.  The Cubs take the 2nd game as well, 5-1 to sweep the doubleheader.

August 10, 1962
Trailing 6-5 with 2 outs in the ninth inning, Ken Hubbs doubles in front of Billy Williams 2-run, walk-off home run as the Cubs defeat the Pirates
7-6 at Wrigley Field. 


April 21, 1963, Game 1
In game 1 of a doubleheader, Ken Hubbs homers, gets 3 hits, scores a run and drives in 2 runs as the Cubs defeat the Giants 4-1 at Candestick Park in San Francisco.  The Giants defeat the Cubs 3-2 in game 2 to split the doubleheader.

May 1, 1963
Cubs score 8 runs in the final 4 innings to overcome an 8-5 Cardinals lead. Cubs win 13-8.   Ernie Banks goes 3 for 4 with two 3-run home runs and drives in 7 runs. Nelson Matthews, Dick Bertel & Ken Hubbs also homer for the Cubs.

May 14, 1963
the Cubs and Reds are tied 0-0 going into the 8th inning as Joe Nuxhal & Dick Ellsworth are both pitching well.  Nuxhall gives the Reds a 1-0 lead in the top of the 8th inning, but loses the lead in the bottom of the 8th inning when Ken Hubbs hits a 2-run home run.  Cubs defeat the Reds 2-1 at Wrigley Field.

June 6, 1963 

Ken Hubbs scores on Billy Williams 8th inning home run that ties the game 2-2 and the Cubs win the game on a walk-off home run by relief pitcher, Lindy McDaniel in the 10th inning.  Cubs defeat Giants 3-2 at Wrigley Field.

July 4, 1963, game 1
Ken Hubbs was at bat when a wild pitch occurred, Ernie Banks advanced to
third and scored when Norm Sherry's threw wildly to third base.  Cubs win
the game 2-1 on this walk-off error.  Cubs win 2nd game of DH, 3-0.

July 18, 1963

At Wrigley Field, Cubs trail the Braves 2-0 going into the 6th inning.  Ken Hubbs double drives in Ron Santo to tie the game 2-2 and Hubbs scores the game winning run on an Andre Rodgers single.  The Cubs defeat the Braves 3-2 at Wrigley field. 

February 15, 1964

Tragically, Ken Hubbs passes away in a plane crash at the age of 22.
