A Cubs home game at Comiskey park for Game 3 of the World Series.
Carl Mays of the Red Sox allows just one run to the Cubs as the Red Sox defeat the Cubs 2-1.  Hippo Vaughn gets his 2nd loss of the Series despite giving up just 3 runs in 2 games.  Red Sox lead Series 2 games to 1.

Lon Warneke pitches a complete game and gets his 20th win of the season as the cubs defeat the Giants 4-2 at the Polo Grounds in New York.

At Wrigley Field, Bill Lee pitches a 6-hit shutout against the Phillies in a 4-0 win. 

September 7, 1958 (GM1)
In Gm1 of a DH, the Cubs defeat the Giants 6-4.  Lee Walls 8th inning 3-run home run breaks a 3-3 tie.  Dick Drott's complete game 3-hitter in Gm2 gives the Cubs a 4-1 victory and a doubleheader sweep.

In the 2nd game of a doubleheader at Three Rivers Stadium, Ron Santo homers twice as the Cubs defeat the Pirates 9-2.

At Wrigley Field, Bill Bonham scatters 10 Phillies hits in a complete game shutout as the Cubs defeat the Phillies and Steve Carlton 3-0.

Kyle Hendricks gets the Cubs a very big win in the last game of the season against the St. Louis Cardinals.  The win extends the Cubs lead in the division to 2.5 games and runs Hendricks career record against the Cardinals to 9-3.  

Hendricks pitches 8 strong innings in a 5-1 Cubs win.
