Jake Arrieta pitches the 14th no-hitter in Cubs history.  The first of his career.  Cubs defeat the Dodgers 2-0 at Dodgers Stadium.

September 30, 1933
Babe Herman hits for the cycle and Guy Bush wins his 20th game of the season as the Cubs defeat the Cardinals 12-2.

September 30, 1948
Cliff Chambers throws a 1-hit shutout as Cubs defeat Reds 1-0 at Wrigley Field.

September 30, 1970
At Shae Stadium, Bill Hands pitches a 7-hit complete game shutout as the Cubs defeat the Mets 2-0. 

September 30, 1984
Cubs trail the Cardinals 1-0 into 9th inning, but Thad Bosley's RBI single off Bruce Sutter ties it and Keith Moreland's infield grounder ends up scoring Bosley for the winning run.  Cubs defeat the Cardinals 2-1 at Wrigley Field. 

September 30, 1992
At Wrigley Field, Greg Maddux wraps up the NL Cy Young award with a complete game shutout of the Pirates for his 20th win of the season and his final game as a Cubs pitcher until 2004.  Maddux will sign with the Braves in the offseason and continue an amazing Hall of Fame career.  The Cubs do bring Maddux back to the team in 2004 and have now retired his number 31 jersey (with Fergie Jenkins). 

September 30, 1998
In the 1st game of their NLDS series, the Braves defeat the Cubs, 7 - 1.  Michael Tucker & Ryan Klesko hit home runs and John Smoltz gets the win.

Alfonso Soriano hits his 14th home run of September.  A new team record for the month of September.

At Great American Ball Park, Ben Zobrist was getting ready for the playoffs, going 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored, a double, 2 home runs & 3 RBI as the Cubs defeat the Reds 7-3.
