At Wrigley Field, Doug Glanville leads off the game for the Cubs with a home run.  Aramis Ramirez leads off the 2nd inning with a home run & Kerry Wood pitches a 4-hit complete game shutout in a 2-0 Cubs win over the Mets.

September 17, 1944, game 1
At Wrigley Field, the Cubs defeat the Cardinals 2-1.   Hank Wyse scores the winning run and pitches a complete game victory scattering 9 Cardinals hit over 9 innings. 

September 17, 1947

Bill Nicholson's 4th hit of the game is 2-run walk-off HR.  Cubs defeat the Giants 12-10 in GM2 of DH at Wrigley

September 17, 1953
Ernie Banks debut is not a good one for the Cubs as the Philadelphia Phillies defeat the Cubs 16-4.  Not a much better day for the Cubs great as Banks goes 0 for 3 and makes an error at shortstop.

September 17, 1988
At Wrigley Field, Darrin Jackson homers twice, including the 6th inning home run that gives the Cubs a lead as the Cubs defeat the Cardinals 6-4.  Jeff Pico pitches 4 scoreless relief innings to earn the win.

At Wrigley Field, Mike Morgan pitches a 2-hitter facing just 28 batters (one over minimum) as Cubs defeat the Phillies 3-0.

Mark DeRosa goes 5 for 5 with a home run and the game-winning, walk-off single to finish up a 3-run Cubs rally.  Cubs defeat Reds 7-6 at Wrigley Field.

September 17, 2017 
At Wrigley Field, Dexter Fowler ties the game for the Cardinals against his former team with a 6th inning 3-run home run.  Jason Heyward gives the Cubs the lead (against his former team) in the 7th inning with an RBI single scoring Anthony Rizzo.  Cubs sweep the Cardinals in a 3-game series and extend their winning streak to six straight victories.  

September 17, 2018
At Chase Field in Arizona, Kyle Hendricks takes a 1-hit shutout into the 9th inning before giving up a solo home run to AJ Pollock. Hendricks ends up with a 3-hitter over 8 2/3 innings as the Cubs defeat the Diamondbacks 5-1.  Javier Baez & Kris Bryant homer for the Cubs.
