September 12, 1947, game 1
Bobby Sturgeon's walk-off triple gives the Cubs a 4-3 victory against the Phillies at Wrigley in game 1 of a doubleheader.  Cubs complete the sweep with a 7-5 victory over the Phillies in game 2.

At Candlestick Park, John Boccabella homers twice against HOF, Warren Spahn in a 9-2 Cubs loss to the Giants.

At Wrigley Field, Dick Ruthven pitches a 4-hit complete game shutout and the Cubs score 7 runs in the 6th inning in a 8-0 Cubs victory over the Expos.

Sammy Sosa becomes just the 4th player in major league history to hit 60 home runs.  The 60th comes against Valerie De Los Santos in a 15-12 Cubs Victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field.  Cubs had an incredible comeback in this win.  The Brewers scored 8 runs in the 3rd inning and had a 10-2 lead into the 5th and a 12-5 into the 7th.   The Cubs scored 10 runs in the final 3 innings.  In the 9th inning, Tyler Houston's 2-run single tied the game and Orlando Merced won the game with a 3-run walk-off home run.  Glenallen Hill went 4 for 5 with 4 runs scored, a HR and RBI.
