October 6, 1909
King Cole has a great Cubs debut, pitching a 6-hit shutout and getting 3 hits,
one a triple as the Cubs defeat the Cardinals 8-0 at Robison Field in St. Louis.

October 6, 1935
Game 5 World Series
Lon Warneke & Bill Lee are the pitching heroes of Game 5 of the World Series and Billy Herman & Chuck Klein are the Cubs best hitters on this day as the Cubs face elimination and send the World Series back to Detroit with a 3-1 victory. It is the Cubs first World Series victory at Wrigley Field.

Game 2 World Series
In Game 2 at Wrigley Field, the Yankees defeat the Cubs to take a 2-0 Series lead.   The World Series will go to New York for game 3.

October 6, 1945
Game 4 World Series
On the field, the Tigers even the 1945 World Series at 2 games for each team, but this game is more well known for another incident. This is the day “The Curse of the Billy Goat” was  born. As this story is told, Wiliam Cianis brought a goat to Wrigley Field and when he was asked to leave the stadium. Apparently, Cianis was so upset over being asked to leave, he put a curse on the Cubs. The Cubs did not go back to the World Series until 2016. 
October 6, 1984
Game 4 NLCS
A very tough loss for the Cubs in Game 4 of the NLCS. The lead went back and forth throughout the game. Jody Davis had a big day with 3 hits and 3 RBI and a home run. Leon Durham homered as well. But with the score tied in the ninth inning, Lee Smith faced Steve Garvey who sent the game to a Game 5 with a dramatic walk-off home run.

Game 3 NLDS
Cubs manage just one run in Game 3 against veteran, Livan Hernandez and 3 Diamondback  relief pitchers. The Diamondbacks end the Cubs season with a 3-1 victory and a 3 games to 0 sweep in the NLDS

At PNC park, Sammy Sosa hits an inside the park home run and Julian Tavarez takes a no-hitter into the 8th inning until it is broken up by Mendy Lopez with a single.

A great pitching match-up as Kyle Hendricks is a little better than the Nationals, Steven Strasburg as he pitches 7 shutout innings and combines with Carl Edwards Jr & Wade Davis on a 2-hit shutout.  Cubs get big 2-out hits from Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo and the Cubs lead the NLDS 1 game to 0.
