Javier Baez gets his first career MLB walk-off hit (a home run) in a 13-inning Cubs victory over the Nationals.  Cubs walk Bryce Harper 6 times in the game, he was hit by pitch in his only other at bat.  Cubs bullpen pitches 8 scoreless innings (Trevor Cahill, Adam Warren, Justin Grimm, Travis Wood).

At Shibe Park, Hank Wyse and the Cubs defeat the Phillies 2-1.  Wyse pitches a complete game, giving up just 9 hits and one run.  Wyse singles and score the winning run in the 7th inning.

Again, I suspect that the wind is blowing at Wrigley Field this day as the Cubs & Reds combine for 9 home runs:  For the Reds, Hal McRae & Toney Perez each hit 2 home runs and Johnny Bench hits one as well.  For the Cubs, Billy Williams hits 2 home runs along with Jim Hickman & JC Martin.  The Cubs win 10-7 as Ken Holtzman gets the win and Phil Regan gets the save.

Cubs defeat the Expos 3-0 on Ken Holtzman's 3-hit complete game shutout.  Holtzman drives in a run with a double and Joe Pepitone hits a 2-run home run.

May 8, 1984
The Cubs blow an 8-3 lead at Wrigley Field against the Giants as they get 2 runs in the 9th inning against Cubs closer, Lee Smith on a Jack Clark home run and Joel Youngblood triple to tie the game 11-11. But Keith Moreland singles home Henry Cotto in the bottom of the ninth for a walk-off Cubs victory.

May 8, 1985
Ryne Sandberg hits a home run in the 1st inning and that is all that Rick Sutcliffe needs as he shuts out the Giants and strikes out 12 as the Cubs defeat the Giants 1-0 at Candlestick

May 8, 1990, 11 innings.
A crazy back and forth game.  The Cubs score 5 runs in the first inning, but blow that lead as the Braves score at least one run in every inning from the 4th inning to the 9th inning.  The Braves take a 8-7 lead into 9th inning, but Andre Dawson sends the game into extra innings with a 9th inning solo home run. Dawson goes deep for the 2nd time in the 11th inning, a 2-run shot, for the walk-off winner.

May 8, 1998
The Giants take a 4-3 lead in the 14th inning, but Mark Grace ends this game with a bases-loaded single driving in Manny Alexander & Brant Brown for a walk-off Cubs 5-4 victory over the Giants and Dusty Baker at Wrigley Field. Grace drove in 3 of the Cubs 5 runs.

May 8, 1999
At Cinergy Field, Benito Santiago's 6th inning home run ties the game and his 7th inning, 3-run home run helps the Cubs defeat the Reds 8-4.

May 8, 2000
Cubs blow a 9-1 lead against the Brewers & manager, Davey Lopes, but pull off an extra inning 12-11 victory on Shane Andrews walk-off single scoring Rickey Gutierrez.

2 players who eventually played for the Cubs, Jeromy Burnitz and Jose Hernandez hit home runs for the Brewers (Burnitz hit 2).

Shane Andrews, Eric Young, Rickey Gutierrez, Mark Grace & Sammy Sosa homer for the Cubs.

At U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, the Cubs defeat the White Sox 12-5 behind home runs by Anthony Rizzo, Starlin Castro & Mike Olt.  Olt's homer is a grand slam, his only grand slam as a Cub.

Mother's Day at Wrigley Field.  Cubs are going for a sweep of the Washington Nationals.  Joe Maddon and the Cubs had a plan to completely pitch around Bryce Harper.   This game went 13 innings yet Harper did not get an official at bat, walking 6 times (3 intentional) and was hit by a pitch.

Kris Bryant's 2-run single in the 7th inning ties the game 3-3 and the game goes into extra innings when Javier Baez ends the game with a walk-off solo home run.  The first walk-off hit of his MLB career.

Jake Arrieta only went 5 innings a a starter, but the Cubs bullpen pitches 8 scoreless innings (Trevor Cahill, Adam Warren,  Justin Grimm, Travis Wood).
