In just his 5th MLB start, Kerry Wood strikes out 20 Houston Astros and shuts out the Astros on just one hit.  One of the greatest pitched games in MLB history.

Cubs defeat Boston Braves 13-9 with just 8 hits.  Braves pitchers walk 13 Cubs and they commit 4 errors.  Billy Herman has 3 hits, 2 walks, 4 runs scored and 2 RBI.  Joe Marty drives in 3 runs.

Billy Herman's walk-off HR helps Cubs defeat Phillies 5-4 at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs trade Hall of Famer, Billy Herman to Dodgers for OF, Charlie Gilbert, IF, Johnny Hudson and cash.

Herman played for the Cubs from 1931 to 1941.  He was an 8-time all star (including 1941) and had a career .309 batting average for the Cubs

Cubs defeat the Astros 6-4.  Carmen Fanzone hits 2 home runs and drives in 4 runs.

Cubs defeat the Braves 14-13.  Mike Vail hits 2 home runs and drives in 4 runs.  Scot Thompson gets the walk-off RBI single scoring Tim Blackwell.

Kerry Wood in just his 5th major league start strikes out 20 batters in a 2-0 victory over the Astros at Wrigley Field. Wood throws a one-hitter, a Ricky Gutierrez single with the only other baserunner being Craig Biggio who was hit by a pitch.

Eric Young's 8th inning sacrifice fly ties Dodgers 2-2 and Todd Hundley's RBI single scoring Gary Matthews Jr is the walk-off winner in a 3-2 win over the Dodgers.

Trailing 4-3 into the 9th, Ryan Theriot's RBI single sends the game into extra innings.  Darryle Ward's RBI single in the 10th inning scoring Matt Murton wins it for the Cubs 5-4 over the Nationals.

At Wrigley Field, Tony Campana ties the game in the 9th with a 2-out RBI double.  Cubs win it 4-3 over the Dodgers on David Dejesus bases loaded walk in the 11th inning.
