In San Diego, Kyle Hendricks pitches his first complete game shutout over San Diego Padres
3-0. Hendricks struck out 7 Padre batters without a walk.

Orval Overall takes a no-hitter into the 9th inning, but with one out, he gives
up a single to Bill Sweeney, the only hit of the game. The Cubs defeat the Braves 7-0 in Boston.

May 21, 1914
Johnny Evers first appearance in Chicago as an opposing player. Braves
defeat Cubs 3-1, Evers has a single in 2 at bats

May 21, 1944
Cubs score in just 3 innings, but they were big innings, 5 in the first, 4 in the
4th and 6 in the 8th inning as Cubs defeat the Boston Braves 15-1 at Wrigley Field.  A very balanced attack saw each player in Cubs lineup, including pitcher Hank Wyse, score a run and only 2 players did not drive in a run (Wyse and 8th place hitter, Billy Holm).  Roy Hughes drove in 5 runs with a double and a triple.

May 21, 1968
Billy Williams leads off the bottom of the ninth with a double and scores the winning run on a passed ball.  Cubs defeat the Phillies 6-5 at Wrigley Field. 

May 21, 1986 
Trailing 8-5 into the 9th inning with 2 outs, Jody Davis hits a game tying 3-run home run off Bruce Sutter of the Braves at Fulton County Stadium, but the game goes 13 innings and the Braves win it on a bases loaded walk by George Frazier to Andres Thomas.  Braves defeat Cubs 9-8 in 13 innings. 

May 21, 1987
Cubs blow a 7-5 lead in the 9th to the Reds, but Bob Dernier wins it for the Cubs with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth. 

May 21, 1993
Cubs play Florida Marlins for the first time and lose 5-3 at Joe Robbie
Stadium in Miami.
 
May 21, 1994
At Wrigley Field, Sammy Sosa homers twice, Steve Buechele homers and drives in 4 runs & Glenallen Hill has 3 hits and 3 RBI as the Cubs defeat the Giants 12-10.

May 21, 2006
Aramis Ramirez homers twice early in the game and Cubs overcome a 4-2 White Sox lead and score 4 in 8th inning.  Michael Barrett's triple ties the game and Jacques Jones 2-run home run gives the Cubs the lead as Cubs defeat White Sox 7-4 at U.S. Cellular Field.
