Happy birthday to Cubs pitcher, Turk Wendell (1993-1997).  Wendell had a 153 ERA+ and saved 18 games for the 1996 Cubs.  


May 19, 1938
Bill Lee pitches a 10-inning, 5-hit shutout and scores the only run of the game on a Billy Herman's RBI single as the Cubs defeat the New York Giants 1-0 at the Polo Grounds. 

From May 19th to June 7th, Bill Lee pitches 6 complete games, getting the win in each game.   4 of the 6 wins are shutouts.  He gave up just 3 runs in 55 innings for a 0.49 ERA.
 
May 19, 1941
The Cubs score 9 runs in the 2nd inning as pitcher, Claude Passeau hits a grand slam & Bill Nicholson hits a home run. Passeau pitches a complete game to earn the victory,  giving up just 4 hits, 1 walk and 1 earned run as Cubs defeat the Dodgers 14-1 at Wrigley Field. 

May 19, 1947
At Wrigley Field, Andy Pafko goes 3 for 5 with a single, 2 doubles, 3 RBI and a run scored in an 8-7 victory over the Brooklyn Dodgers.

May 19, 1959
Jim Marshall's ninth inning, 2-out, 2-run single scores Earl Averill & Ernie Banks giving the Cubs a great 8-7 come from behind victory at Wrigley Field. Cubs score 7 runs in the final 3 innings to complete the comeback.

May 19, 1961
Ernie Banks doubles in Al Heist in the first inning for the first and only run of  the game as Glenn Hobbie pitches a complete game shutout to defeat the Cardinals, 1-0.

May 19, 1971
Billy Williams hits 2 home runs and drives in 6 runs. Glenn Beckert has 4 hits and 2 runs scored and Fergie Jenkins pitches a complete game to defeat the Giants and Steve Stone.

Cubs take an early 4-0 lead on back to back, first inning home runs by Sammy Sosa & Henry Rodriguez.  Trailing in the 9th, Rodriguez hits his 2nd home run a 2-run HR to give the Cubs an 8-7 win over the Marlins at Pro Player Stadium.  defeat the Marlins 8-7.

Moises Alou hits a walk-off, tenth inning home run to defeat the Giants, 4-3.

Derrek Lee's 8th inning, 3-run, pinch-hit home run highlights a 6-run inning that helps the Cubs defeat the White Sox, 11-6 at Wrigley Field.  Pitcher, Jason Marquis & Michael Barrett homer as well at Wrigley Field.

At Great American Ballpark, the Cubs defeat the Reds 10-0.  Jose Quintana, Mike Montgomery & Steve Cishek combine on a 3-hit shutout.  Jason Heyward triples and drives in 4 runs, Anthony Rizzo doubles and drives in 3 & Ian Happ homers for the Cubs.
