May 16, 1996
Great Cubs debut for 22-year old, Amaury Telemaco, as he gives up just one hit over 7
innings in a 13-1 win over the Astros. 


May 16, 1944
Trailing 6-1, Cubs make a great comeback and defeat the Dodgers 7-6 on Bill
Nicholson's
walk-off RBI double in the 9th.
 
May 16, 1948
Andy Pafko goes 5 for 5 with 2 HR's, 4 RBI's and the Cubs make a comeback to tie the game after trailing 11-7 in the 8th inning, but the Reds come back to score  2 in the ninth and defeat the Cubs 13-11.

May 16, 1954
Future broadcaster, Joe Garagiola gets 5 hits in a 12-3 victory over the
Pirates at Forbes Field.

May 16, 1958
Cubs overcome trailing 5-2 to the Giants to win the game with a 2-run, 9th inning rally.  Bobby Adams RBI double ties the game and Lee Walls RBI single is the walk-off hit. 
 
May 16, 1963
Cubs defeat the Reds 2-0 at Wrigley Field.  Larry Jackson throws a 6-hit complete game shutout.

March 16, 1968
Ron Santo singles home Glenn Beckert in the 1st inning for the only run of the game as Rich Nye pitches a 6-hit shutout for a 1-0 Cubs victory over the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.
 
May 16, 1969
Cubs defeat the Astros 11-0.  Ken Holtzman pitches a 3-hit complete game shutout.  This shutout continues an amazing Cubs stretch of 5 games with 4 complete game shutouts.  Even the one game the Cubs did give up a run was a low scoring victory, 3-2 win over the Padres on 5/14/69.  It is the Cubs 5th win in a row to take their record to 23-11, 5 games ahead of the Pirates in the NL East.

May 16, 1971
In 1st game of a doubleheader, Hector Torres 9th inning RBI single ties Cubs and Padres.   Cito Gaston' RBI single gives Padres the lead, but the Cubs come back again to win it in the 10th inning on a walk-off 2-run home run by Jim Hickman.   Cubs defeat the Padres 9-8. 

May 16, 1972
Rick Monday hits 3 home runs against the Phillies in an 8-1 Cubs victory.

Sammy Sosa becomes first Cub ever to hit 2 HR's in one inning.

Cubs beat the Padres 16-7 at Wrigley Field. Sammy Sosa goes 4 for 4 with single, triple and home run and 4 RBI. Brian McRae goes 4 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.

At Wrigley Field, the Cubs defeat the Nationals 4-0.  Carlos Zambrano & Ryan Dempster combine on a 4-hit shutout.  Aramis Ramirez & Todd Walker each drive in 2 runs. 

May 16, 2009 
Cubs blow a 4-0 lead in the top of 9th as Lance Berkman & Carlos Lee homer off Kevin Gregg and Ivan Rodriguez's 2-run single ties the game, but Cubs win it 5-4 in the bottom of the 9th on Alfonso Soriano's RBI single scoring Bobby Scales against former Cubs closer, LaTroy Hawkins.
