Hippo Vaughn throws a 1-hit shutout as the Cubs defeat the Dodgers
5-0 at West Side Grounds.

May 14, 1927
Guy Bush of the Cubs pitches all 18 innings in a 7-2 victory over the Braves. 

May 14, 1944, game 2
The Dodgers win game 1 of a doubleheader, but Cubs come back from a 7-6 deficit to score 2 9th inning runs to win the game 8-7.  Bill Nicholson's RBI double ties it and he scores winning run Roy Hughes walk-off RBI single. 

May 14, 1949
At Crosley Field, the Cubs defeat the Reds 13-1.  Andy Pafko hits a bases loaded triple and homer, going 3 for 4 with 4 RBI.

May 14, 1963
the Cubs and Reds are tied 0-0 going into the 8th inning as Joe Nuxhal & Dick Ellsworth are both pitching well.  Nuxhall gives the Reds a 1-0 lead in the top of the 8th inning,   but loses the lead in the bottom of the 8th inning when Ken Hubbs hits a 2-run home run.  Cubs defeat the Reds 2-1 at Wrigley Field.

May 14, 1969
The Cubs streak of 3 consecutive shutouts end, but Bill Hands pitches well.  Cubs come back in the 9th to tie the score on Ernie Banks home run and Willie Smith wins it with a walk-off RBI single scoring Adolfo Phillips. 

May 14, 1971
Padres score 2 early runs against Milt Pappas, but he holds them scoreless
the rest of the way to a complete game 3-2 Cubs victory.  Ron Santo's 6th
inning home run is the game winner.

Lloyd Mcclendon hits HR in first at bat as a Cub.  Cubs defeat Braves 4-0
at Wrigley Field.
 
May 14, 1998
Cubs defeat the Rockies 9-7 at Coors Field in Colorado.  Mark Grace homers in the 1st inning, Henry Rodriguez hits a grand slam in the 5th inning and Grace's 2nd home run in the 9th helps the Cubs get the win.  For the day, Grace goes 4 for 5 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI.

At Wrigley Field, the Cubs defeat the Braves 9-0.  Jon Lieber pitches a 7-hit
complete game shutout.

May 14, 2000
Eric Young steals 5 bases, the first post 1900 Cub to do so as the Expos
defeat the Cubs 16-15 in a wild game at Olympic Stadium.

May 14, 2009
At Wrigley Field, the Cubs defeat the Padres 11-3.  Bobby Scales doubles twice and drives in 4 runs.

At Wrigley Field, the Cubs defeat the Pirates 8-2.  Jake Arrieta strikes out 11 batters and pitches 8 innings to earn his 16th consecutive win.
