Cubs Birthdays:
Randy Hundley
Hundley finished 4th in Rookie of the Year voting in 1966.  He won the Gold Glove (catcher) in 1967 and was an all-star in 1969. 

His 12.8 WAR as a Cubs catcher is only behind Gabby Hartnett, King Kelly, Johnny Kling, Jody Davis in Cubs history for catchers. 

Carlos Zambrano
Zambrano was a 3-time all-star (2004, 2006, 2008) and 3-time silver slugger (2006, 2008-2009).  He pitched the 13th no-hitter in Cubs history and his 23 home runs lead the Cubs all-time list for pitchers.

June 1, 1963 
At Connie Mack Stadium, the Cubs defeat the Phillies 2-0 behind Dick Ellsworth's complete game, 1-hit shutout.  Wes Covington's 5th inning single is the only hit off Ellsworth.  Andre Rodgers homers for the Cubs.

June, 1 1940
Al Todd's walk-off home run in the 12th inning helps Cubs defeat Dodgers 4-3 at Wrigley Field.   

June 1, 1942
Cubs purchase Jimmy Foxx who at the time had 524 HR's at the age of 34. Foxx hit just .191 with 3 HR"s in 225 at bats from 1942 through 1944
   
June 1, 1956
Gene Baker's 2-out, walk-off home run helps Cubs defeat the Dodgers 4-2 at Wrigley Field.   

June 1, 1961
At Connie Mack Stadium in Philadelphia, the Cubs defeat the Phillies 10-3.  Don Zimmer homers, singles, scores 3 runs and drives in 3 runs.   
 
June 1, 1963

Dave Kingman hits a double, 2 home runs and drives in 6 runs as Cubs defeat Giants 8-2.

At Wrigley Field, Andre Dawson drives in all 5 Cubs runs,  including an 8th inning grand slam that ties the game, but Cubs lose to the Astros 6-5 on Jose Cruz 10th inning home run.   

June 1, 1995
Cubs select Kerry Wood with the 4th overall pick in the MLB draft.

In Los Angeles, the Cubs defeat the Dodgers 9-5. Derrek Lee goes 5 for 5 with 2 runs scored, a home run & 4 RBI.   
 
June 1, 2016
Jon Lester gives up a 1st inning home run to KIki Hernandez, but holds Dodgers without a run the rest of the way for a complete game, 4-hitter with 10 strikeouts.   Kris Bryant's 2-run home run gives the Cubs a 2-1 win over the Dodgers at Wrigley Field.
