At Robinson Field in St. Louis, Hippo Vaughn pitches a 2-hit shutout as the Cubs defeat the Cardinals 1-0.  Fred Merkle drives in the only run of the game in the 1st inning.

Cubs sweep Giants in doubleheader with 2 shutouts. Hi Bithorn in Game1 & Ed Hanyzeski/Claude Passeau in Game2.

An amazing game for Kyle Schwarber as he collects 4 hits, hits a 2-run home run to tie the game in the ninth inning and than wins the game for the Cubs in the 13th with his 2nd home run of the game. The first 2 home run game of his career with the Cubs.

Trevor Williams pitches a good game as the Cubs win a series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5-1.  Given that the trade deadline is coming up this week, Cubs fans need to wonder if it is the last time that Kris Bryant & Anthony Rizzo hit back to back home runs.  David Bote also homers for the Cubs in his first game back after being on the injured list.
