July 2, 1967
Cubs defeat the Reds 4-1 at Wrigley Field. It's the Cubs 6th straight victory and the team has now won 17 of 19 games to take over 1st place in the NL.   Fergie Jenkins pitches a complete game 3-hitter and drives in a run with a double and triple in the game.

July 2, 1891
Jimmy Ryan gets 4 hits for 2nd straight day and the Colts (Cubs) defeat Cleveland 20-5 at South Side Park  (Chicago).

July 2, 1940
At Wrigley Field, the Cubs defeat the Pirates 10-0.  Bill Lee pitches a 5-hit complete game shutout.  

July 2, 1950
One day after hitting a 3-run, 9th inning home run to tie the game, Andy Pafko finishes the game just one single shy of hititng for the cycle, getting a double, triple and home run, 5 RBI and 3 runs scores as the Cubs trounce the Reds 16-0 at Crosley Field.  Pafko never does hit for the cycle in his MLB career.
July 2, 1957

The Cubs Lee Walls hits for the Cycle, but it's not enough as Reds defeat
Cubs 8-6 in 10 innings

July 2, 1967

Davey Lopes hits a walk-off home run as Cubs defeat the Expos 5-4 at
Wrigley field.  Lee Smith pitches 2 scoreless innings to earn the win.
 
July 2, 1993
Sammy Sosa gets 6 hits (5 singles and a double) in an 11-8 Cubs victory over
the Rockies at Mile High Stadium .

July 2, 2014
Cubs trade Scott Feldman & Steve Clevenger to the Orioles for Jake Arrieta
and Pedro Strop. 

July 2, 2015
Jake Arrieta goes 8 innings, gives up 5 hits and one run as the Cubs defeat the Mets and Jacob DeGrom 6-1 at Citi Field in New York. 

July 2, 2017
In Cincinatti, the Cubs defeat the Reds 6-2.  Ian Happ homers twice
and drives in 4 runs.
