Cubs History-July 1

Entering this game, the Cubs Tony Taylor had just one career home run.
In the Cubs 9-5 victory over the Giants, Taylor hits 2 home runs, one
an inside the park home run that  I wish I could find a video of. This
home run probably deserves an asterisk as Taylor hit a ball down the
left field line that ended up in a gutter and he was able to circle the
bases before the Giants left fielder couldn't find the ball.

July 1, 1959
Cubs trail 5-1 into 8th inning, but rally to tie game in 8th, Al Dark's

the game, a 2-out, walk-off 3-run home run to help the Cubs split this
doubleheader.

innings against the Pirates allowing Sandberg to get the walk-off RBI

and walking just 2.

July 1, 2018
