At Wrigley Field, Glen Hobbie pitches a six-hit, complete game.  Ernie Banks homers for the Cubs and Hobbie even hits the walk-off home run in the 9th inning as Cubs defeat the Pirates 2-1.

August 25, 1922
Cubs and Phillies combine for the most runs in a 9 inning MLB game when the Cubs defeat the Phillies 26-23 at Wrigley Field.  Cubs score 10 runs in the second inning and 14 runs in the fourth inning.  The Phillies score 8 in the 8th and 6 in the 9th to make it close near the end of the game.  There were only 3 home runs in the game, 2 by Hack Miller and one by Bob O'Farrell.  Cliff Heathcoate reached base in all 7 plate appearances (3 singles, 2 doubles, 2 walks).  Heathcoate also scores 5 runs and drives in 4.  Charlie Hollocher goes 3 for 5 with 6 RBI.  Hack Miller goes 4 for 5 with a 2 home runs, a walk and 6 RBI.  Marty Krug 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, a walk and 4 runs scored.
