August 16, 1956
Sam Jones strikes out 13 Reds as Cubs defeat Reds 4-2 at Wrigley Field. He strikes out HOF, Frank Robinson 4 times in the game

Moose Moryn goes 3 for 6 with 2 runs scored a home run and 3 RBI. His 12th inning home run is the walk-off hit for the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

At Wrigley Field, the Cubs defeat the Giants 6-0 as Don Cardwell pitches a 6-hit complete game shutout.

IN Game 1 of DH, Cubs blow 3-1 lead in 9th but win it on a walk-off by Jimmy Stewart (RBI single).

At Candlestick Park, Fergie Jenkins & Gaylord Perry are locked in a 0-0 pitcher's duel into the 9th inning until Paul Popovich's RBI single in the 9th inning.  Fergie finishes with a 3-hit complete game shutout over Perry and the Giants.  

August 16, 1971
Fergie Jenkins pitches a complete game 2-hit shutout and hits a 2-run double in the 9th inning as the Cubs defeat the Braves 3-0 at Wrigley Field. 

August 16, 1977

Cubs RP pitches 6 scoreless IP, Dave Guisti 4 IP.  Greg Gross ties game in 9th off Rich Gossage and Gene Clines wins it with walk-off RBI single in 15th inning.  

August 16, 1980
At Busch Stadium in St. Louis, the Cubs defeat the Cardinals 9-4.  Bill Buckner homers, gets 4 hits, 3 runs and 3 RBI. 

August 16, 1986

At Olympic Stadium, the Cubs defeat the Expos 5-0 as Jamie Moyer pitches a 2-hit complete game shutout. 

August 16, 1987
Trailing 7-0, Jody Davis hits a grand slam in the 4th inning, but the Mets continue to score and defeat the Cubs 23-10 at Wrigley Field.  Darryl Strawberry of the Mets hits for the cycle and drives in 5 runs.

August 16, 1992
At Wrigley Field, Greg Maddux pitches 4-hit complete game shutout as the Cubs defeat the Astros 1-0.

Darwin Barney gets his first major league hit, a double off the Padres, Kevin Correa in a 9-5 Cubs loss to the Padres at Wrigley Field. 

August 16, 2016
At Wrigley Field, the Cubs sweep a doubleheader over the Brewers.  In game 1, Trevor Cahill and 4 Cubs relievers combine on a 3-hit shutout in a 4-0 Cubs win.  In game 2, Jason Hammel pitches 7 scoreless innings and Javier Baez homers as the Cubs complete the sweep with a 4-1 win.  

August 16, 2017
At Wrigley Field, Anthony Rizzo hits a first-inning grand slam as the Cubs take an early 6-1 lead.  The Reds come back and tie it in the 8th inning on Adam Duvall's 2-run home run.  Cubs come back and win it in the ninth when Javier Baez leads off the 9th with a double, advances to third base on an infield out and scores the winning run on a wild pitch by Reds pitcher, Blake Wood.  

August 16, 2018
Ian Happ's 4th inning solo home run off Ivan Nova is the only run of the game as Cubs defeat the Pirates 1-0 at PNC Park.  Jon Lester pitches 6 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts.  3 Cubs relievers combine with Lester on a 6-hit shutout.
