August 16, 1956
Sam Jones strikes out 13 Reds as Cubs defeat Reds 4-2 at Wrigley Field. He strikes out HOF, Frank Robinson 4 times in the game

Moose Moryn goes 3 for 6 with 2 runs scored a home run and 3 RBI. His 12th inning home run is the walk-off hit for the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

IN Game 1 of DH, Cubs blow 3-1 lead in 9th but win it on a walk-off by Jimmy Stewart (RBI single).

Cubs RP pitches 6 scoreless IP, Dave Guisti 4 IP.  Greg Gross ties game in 9th off Rich Gossage and Gene Clines wins it with walk-off RBI single in 15th inning.

At Atlanta Stadium, Fergie Jenkins & Gaylord Perry are locked in a 0-0 pitcher's duel into the 9th inning until Paul Popovich's RBI single in the 9th inning.  Fergie finishes with a 3-hit complete game shutout over Perry and the Braves.
