Preston Ward's 2-out, walk-off, 2-run single gives Cubs a come from behind victory over Cardinals 7-6.  Andy Pafko 8th inning HR to tie game.

August 14, 1959
Cubs, Dale Long hits a pinch hit home run for the 2nd consecutive day. The HR gives the Cubs a 5-4 lead and was followed in the inning by an Ernie Banks HR that helped the Cubs defeat the Giants 7-5 at Wrigley Field

At Wrigley Field, Cubs defeat the Dodgers 2-0.  Ray Burris pitches a 4-hit complete game shutout.

Kerry Wood pitches 8 scoreless innings and hits a home run as Cubs defeat the Dodgers 2-0 at Wrigley Field

Cubs score 4 runs in the 1st inning and 10 runs in the 3rd inning on their way to a 17-2 win over the Pirates.  Amazingly, Cubs scored this many runs and hit just one home run, a first inning, 3-run home run by Kosuke Fukudome.
