Cubs win 2-1 with the help of Heinie Zimmerman's inside the park home run.

August 1, 1947
Cubs & Dodgers in a slug fest at Wrigley Field.  With score tied 8-8 into the 9th inning, Phil Cavaretta singles (4th hit of the game) and Clyde McCullough sends Cubs fans home happy with a 2-run, walk-off home run. 

August 1, 1956
In Philadelphia, the Cubs lose the Phillies 10-8. Moose Moryn goes 3 for 5
with a double, home run & 2 RBI.

August 1, 1963
Cubs score 6 runs in the 1st inning and coast to a 10-2 win over the Braves at County Stadium in Milwaukee.  Ellis Burton homers twice.  Larry Jackson pitches a complete game and drives in 2 runs in the game. 

August 1, 1974, Game 1
In New York, the Cubs sweep the Mets in a doubleheader.  In game 1, Bill Madlock goes 4 for 5 with a double and an RBI in a 7-4 10 inning victory.  Madlock's 10th inning single began the Cubs 3-run rally that won the game.

August 1, 1976
Bill Madlock doesn't get a hit, but scores both Cubs runs in a 10 inning 2-1 victory over the Cardinals.  Madlock reaches on an 8th inning walk and Pete Lacock drvies him in with an 8th inning single.  In the 10th, Madlock reaches
on a fielder's choice and scores the walk-off run when Lacock again drives him in for the walk-off victory.

August 1, 1983
Joe Carter gets his first MLB hit against Steve Carlton of the Phillies.  Phillies defeat Cubs 2-1 at Veteran's Stadium.

August 1, 1984
Jody Davis 9th inning walk-off sacrifice fly gives Cubs a 5-4 victory over the Phillies at Wrigley Field.  Ryne SandbergRon Cey & Keith Moreland all hit home runs against Phillies lefty, Steve Carlton.

August 1, 1985
Ron Merdith & George Frazier combine to hold Cardinals scoreless for 5 innings to give Cubs a chance to come back on Larry Bowa's RBI squeeze
bunt in the 14th inning.  Cubs 9 Cardinals 8 in 14 innings.  

August 1, 1987
Andre Dawson drives in all 5 Cubs runs with 3 home runs as the Cubs defeat the Phillies 5-3.

August 1, 1990
Greg Maddux pitches a 5-hit complete game shutout as the Cubs defeat the Pirates 5-0 at Wrigley Field.  Maddux also gets 3 hits in the game. 

August 1, 2002
Cubs score 6 runs in final 3 innings, including 2 in the 9th to defeat the Padres 8-7 at Wrigley Field.  Alex Gonzalez hits a 2-out, 2-run double to win on a walk-off.   

August 1, 2003
Troy O'leary's 2-run double ties the game at 4-4 after Dbacks scored 2 runs in top of 11th inning.  Aramis Ramirez wins it for the Cubs in the 14th inning with an walk-off RBI single scoring Sammy Sosa.  

August 1, 2009
In MIami, the Cubs defeat the Marlins 9-8.  Derrek Lee goes 4 for 6 with 3 RBI that includes that 10th inning solo home run that gives the Cubs the lead.  

August 1, 2013
Junior Lake homers twice, Anthony Rizzo homers twice, but Cubs lose to Dodgers 6-4 at Wrigley Field.

August 1, 2016

August 1, 2017
Cubs thump the Diamondbacks 16-4 as Anthony Rizzo homers twice, and yes, Jon Lester homers!!!  Lester also picked up his 2,000 career strikeout.  He is just the 25th lefthander in MLB history to compile 2000 K's.

Tyler Chatwood tied a career high striking out 11 and pitching strong 6 2/3 innings. Javier Baez & Ian Happ homers to give the Cubs an early 2-0 lead.  Kyle Schwarber's 8th inning 2-run home run is important insurance runs as the Pirates score 3 in the 9th, 2 on Colin Moran's home run.

August 1, 2021

Rafael Ortega drove in all 5 Cubs runs with 3 home runs.  But this wasn't enough as Yadiel Hernandez of the Nats also had a great game going 4 for 5 with 2 home runs, including the walk-off ninth inning home run off Manny Rodriguez.
