April 21, 1910 
Cubs defeat the Reds 6-1 in the home opener at West Side Grounds.  Mordecai "3 Finger" Brown pitches a 6-hit complete game. 

April 21, 1926 
In the Cubs home opener at Cubs Park (Wrigley Field), the Cubs defeat the Reds 4-2. 

April 21, 1929
Guy Bush pitches a 3-hit complete game shutout and Rogers Hornsby goes 4 for 4 with 2 RBI in a 4-0 victory At Wrigley Field.

April 21, 1939 
The Cubs begin the season on the road at Sportsman's Park in St. Louis and defeat the Cardinals 4-2.  Bill Lee pitches a complete game to earn the win. 

April 21, 1943 
Cubs open the season at home and lose to the Pirates 6-0.  Rip Sewell retires the last 13 Cubs batters of the game on his way to 3-hit complete game shutout.

The Cardinals defeat the Cubs 4-0 in the Cubs home opener at Wrigley Field.  Harry Brecheen pitches a 4-hit complete game shutout.

At Wrigley Field, Hank Wyse and the Cubs defeat the Reds 3-0.  Wyse pitches a 3-hit, complete game shutout.  Wyse drives in the Cubs 3rd run with a sixth inning single.

Cubs defeat the Cardinals 2-0 in their home opener at Wrigley Field.  Bob Rush pitches a 4-hit complete game shutout.

Cubs defeat the Reds 3-2 in 11 innings on Jim King's walk-off RBI single scoring Richie Myers.

Glen Hobbie allows just 3 Cardinal batters to reach base in a 1-0 victory at Wrigley Field.   Hobbie allows just one single to Stan Musial in the 7th inning that broke up the no-hitter,  one walk and one hit by pitch.

April 21, 1963, Game 1
In game 1 of a doubleheader, Ken Hubbs homers, gets 3 hits, scores a run and drives in 2 runs as the Cubs defeat the Giants 4-1 at Candestick Park in San Francisco.  The Giants defeat the Cubs 3-2 in game 2 to split the doubleheader.

April 21, 1991
The Cubs were leading the Pirates 3-2 going into the 8th inning when this game got out of hand.  Both teams scored 4 runs in the 8th inning and the Pirates tied the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the ninth inning on a double by Gary Varsho.

It looked as though the Cubs had the victory when Doug Dascenzo gave the Cubs an 8-7 lead with a single and Andre Dawson followed with a Grand Slam to give the Cubs a 12-7 lead, but the Pirates came back and scored six runs in the bottom of the 11th to defeat the Cubs 13-12.  The six run
extra inning comeback is the greatest extra-inning comeback in major league history

April 21, 2004 

Josh Fogg does not retire a Cubs batter before being knocked out of the game in the 1st inning as the Cubs score 8 runs in the first and go on to defeat the Pirates, at PNC Park, 12-1. 

Corey Patterson goes 5 for 6 with two doubles & Derrek Lee doubles twice and drives in 3 runs.  The Cubs or Pirates did not homer in this game.

Cubs trade Marlon Byrd to Boston Red Sox for Michael Bowden and a player to be named later

April 21, 2015
Addison Russell makes his Cubs debut and goes 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored to help the Cubs get a late comeback victory over the Pirates at PNC Park.  Starlin Castro homers, drives in 4 runs, including a 2-run single in the 9th inning to tie the game. Welington Castillo drives in the winning run with
an infield ground out and a 9-8 win over the Pirates.    

April 21, 2016
Jake Arrieta becomes just the 2nd Cubs pitcher post 1900 to throw 2 no-hitters with the team as the Cubs demolish the Reds 16-0.  Kris Bryant homers twice and drives in 6 runs.  Arrieta walks 4, but faces just 29 batters due to double play and David Ross pickoff at first base.

April 21, 2017
For the 3rd straight game, the Cubs trail early, get solid bullpen help (5 1/3 innings with 1 hit and no runs by Grimm, Strop, Duensing, Rondon, Edwards & Davis) and big hits late in the game.  Anthony Rizzo ties the game with 2 outs in the 9th with a 3-run home run.  Kris Bryant's sacrifice fly scoring Albert Almora wins it for Cubs 6-5. 

April 21, 2018
David Bote makes his Cubs debut in Colorado vs the Rockies.  Cubs lose to the Rockies 5-2 and Bote goes 1 for 3 with a double and 2 strikeouts. 

April 21, 2019
A great pitcher's duel between the Cubs, Tyler Chatwood & the Diamondbacks, Robbie Ray.  Javier Baez drives in the first run of the game in the 6th inning with an RBI triple.  Jarrod Dyson's 9th inning home run
off Pedro Strop ties the game, but David Bote wins it for the Cubs 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th inning with an RBI single driving in Javier Baez who doubled to lead off the ninth off Archie Bradley.

Cubs blow out the Mets 16-4 at Wrigley Field.  Javier Baez hits a grand slam and scores 3 runs.  Matt Duffy goes 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.  David Bote goes 2 for 4 and 4 RBI.
