A great game for Cubs great, Bill Nicholson. He drives in a run by getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the first inning. He comes up with the bases loaded again in the 5th inning and drives in 4 more with a Grand Slam
home run and than adds another home run in the 7th inning to drive in 6 of the 7 Cubs runs as the Cubs defeat the Cardinals 7-3.

Fergie Jenkins, who was born in Canada, pitches his first game in Canada and gets the victory as the Cubs defeat the Expos 9-6 in the first game of a doubleheader.
Fergie goes 1 for 2 in the game with a walk and an RBI and pitches a complete game striking out 10 Expo hitters.
April 20, 1974
At Veteran's Stadium in Philadelphia, the Cubs defeat the Phillies 5-4 in 13 innings. Bill Madlock goes 4 for 6 with a run scored and 2 RBI, including the game-winning hit, driving in Billy Williams with a single in the top of the 13th inning.

Dave Kingman's 3rd inning grand slam helps the Cubs defeat the Expos 8-6 at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs make a great 9th inning comeback, Dave Lopes drives in a run with a double and scores on a 2-run home run by Keith Moreland to tie the game 8-8 and send the game into extra innings.
The game goes 17 innings before the Pirates score 2 runs to win the game 10-8. Dave Lopes batted 7 times in the game and reached base every time going 5 for 5 with 2 walks.

Finally, the Cubs win a game in 1997 and break their 14 game losing streak to begin the season. It is still a NL record. The Baltimore Orioles have the MLB record going 0-21 in 1988.
