The next day, the Cubs are tied 5-5 into the 9th inning and they get a 2nd straight walk-off to begin their home season as Al Heist hits a grand slam scoring Cubs greats, Don Zimmer, Ron Santo and Ernie Banks.

Cubs minor leaguer) strikes out 12 Cubs in 8 innings, Ted Lilly strikes
out 10 Reds hitters in 6 innings. the 2 teams combine for 25 strikeouts,
just 3 walks and only 5 hits combined. Alfonso Soriano's double is the
only extra base hit in the game.

Dusty Baker returns to Wrigley Field as the Reds manager. Another Cubs curse perhaps, his #12 counterpart, Alfonso Soriano pulls up lame on a fly ball and leaves the game. Soriano would return to the Cubs lineup by May 1, however, he was never the type of stolen base threat that he was when the Cubs first signed him.
