Cubs overcome a 4-0 deficit to Mets at Shae Stadium, scoring 7 runs in the
8th inning for an 8-4 victory. Manny Trillo has the big hit with a bases
loaded 3-run double.   Paul Reuschel gets the victory, Bruce Sutter
pitches 2 scoreless relief innings.

June 9, 1977
Bill Bonham & Bruce Sutter shut out the Giants for 11 innings as Cubs win 1-0 on a Jose Cardenal walk-off squeeze bunt.

June 27, 1977
Cubs score 3 runs in 7th inning for a 4-3 victory over Mets. Bruce Sutter gets 20th save.

September 8, 1977
Cubs defeat the Expos 3-2 in 10 innings on Bill Buckner's walk-off SF.  Bruce Sutter pitches 3 scoreless innings and
strikes out 6 to earn the win including striking out the side on 9 pitches in the 9th.


April 29, 1979
Trailing 5-0 into the 9th inning in Atlanta, the Cubs offense comes alive as
they score 6 runs.  Bobby Murcer's 3-run home run gives the Cubs the lead. 
Bruce Sutter holds the Braves scoreless in the ninth for a 6-5 Cubs win.

May 1, 1979 
Bill Buckner homers twice and Ken Holtzman and Bruce Sutter shut down the Reds on 6 hits as the Cubs win 5-1 at Riverfront Stadium.

Many great hitting days for Cubs with the wind blowing out at Wrigley Field.   Dave Kingman hits 3 HR's and drove in 6 runs, Bill Buckner had 7 RBI's. Mike Schmidt hit his 2nd HR of the day to win the game in the 10th with a HR off Bruce Sutter.


October 20, 1982
In St. Louis, Bruce Sutter pitches two scoreless innings without giving up a hit or a walk (striking out two) to help the Cardinals finish off the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 7 to bring a World Series championship to St. Louis.

June 23, 1984
Ryne Sandberg game on national television that sort of was his coming out party as a superstar in the major league baseball. Sandberg hits a game tying home run off one of, if not the best, closer in baseball, Bruce Sutter of the St Louis Cardinals. Sandberg follows this up with another game tying home run in the tenth before Dave Owen's game-winning single in the 11th inning. the Cubs go one to the playoffs in 84 and Sandberg wins MVP honors.

Bob Dernier goes 3 for 5 with a double, walk, 2 RBI, 4 runs scored and a stolen base. 

September 30, 1984
Cubs trail the Cardinals 1-0 into 9th inning, but Thad Bosley's RBI single off Bruce Sutter ties it and Keith Moreland's infield grounder ends up scoring Bosley for the winning run.  Cubs defeat the Cardinals 2-1 at Wrigley Field. 


August 29, 1985
At Wrigley Field, Leon Durham homers twice, one against the guy he was traded for, Bruce Sutter, as the Braves defeat the Cubs 9-6. 


May 21, 1986
Trailing 8-5 into the 9th inning with 2 outs, Jody Davis hits a game tying 3-run home run off Bruce Sutter of the Braves at Fulton County Stadium, but the game goes 13 innings and the Braves win it on a bases loaded walk by George Frazier to Andres Thomas.  Braves defeat Cubs 9-8 in 13 innings. 


September 9, 1987
Congratulations to Bruce Sutter for getting his 300th career save while with the Atlanta Braves, he earned the save against the San Diego Padres with a 5-4 victory in 11 innings.  At the time, he is only the 3rd player to reach 300
saves (Rollie Fingers and Rich "Goose" Gossage were the first 2 to 300 saves).
