In St. Louis, Guy Bush pitches a 1-hit shutout in a 1-0 Cubs victory.  Vince Barton drives in only Cubs run with a home run. 

August 9, 1942
Ouch, Cubs blow a 4-0 9th inning lead giving up 4 unearned runs to the
Reds at Crosly Field (Cincinnatti).  The Cubs do end up winning this back and forth game in 18 innings 10-8.  An amazing game for Stan Hack as he comes to bat 10 times, has one sacrifice hit, 5 hits and 4 walks, 4 runs scored and an RBI.

4 run 9th inning rally to win 5-4.  Phil Cavaretta & Eddie Miksis RBI's.  Randy Jackson walkoff 2-RBI single.

Bill Serena's walk-off RBI single helps Cubs split a doubleheader with a 6-5 Cubs victory over Phillies at Wrigley Field.

At Wrigley Field, Randy Hundley homers twice as the Astros defeat the Cubs
8-5, scoring 5 runs in the 9th inning.

At Wrigley Field, Cubs defeat the Pirates 6-0 in 1st game of a doubleheader
as Fergie Jenkins pitches a 4-hit complete game shutout.

At Dodger Stadium, Cubs defeat the Dodgers 4-0 as Bill Hands pitches a 6-hit complete game shutout.  Jim Hickman hits 2 home runs.

At Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, the Cubs defeat the Pirates, 4-1.  Bill Buckner gets 3 hits including a 2-run home run.  Ray Burris gets the win and Willie Hernandez the save.

At Wrigley Field, Steve Dillard homers twice as the Cubs defeat the Pirates
11-3.   Bill Buckner has 4 hits.

At Olympic Stadium, Bill Buckner homers twice as the Cubs defeat the Expos

At Shae Stadium, Jody Davis homers twice as the Mets defeat the Cubs 6-4.

Cubs play their first night game at Wrigley Field and defeat the Mets 6-4.

At Olympic Stadium, Ryne Sandberg's 5th inning grand slam helps the Cubs come back from a 5-0 deficit and defeat the Expos 11-9.  For the day, Sandberg homers twice and drives in 5 runs.

Sammy Sosa homers 3 times, but Rockies defeat the Cubs 14-5 at Wrigley Field.

The Iowa Cubs defeat the Round Rock Express 15-3.  Micah Hoffpauir hits 4 home run and Iowa hit 8 HR's (Felix Pie, Jason Dubois, Matt Craig & pitcher, Mitch Atkins.

Cubs overcome an early 3-1 Reds lead, Starlin Castro's 2-run 6th inning double ties the game and Alfonso Soriano's 8th inning 2-run home run wins it for Cubs 5-3.  Manny Corpas, Shawn Camp & Carlos Marmol pitch 3 scoreless innings to preserve the victory.

Chris Rusin and 4 Cubs relievers pitch a 7-hit shutout as the Cubs defeat the
Cardinals 3-0 at Busch Stadium.

At Wrigley Field, the Cubs defeat the Giants 2-0.  Jake Arrieta pitches 7 2/3
innings, giving up just 4 hits and triples and scores one of the two Cubs runs.

Cubs continue some great pitching and extend their winning streak to 9 games as John Lackey gives up just 3 hits against his former team in a 5-1 win over the Angels.  Willson Contreras & Kris Bryant homer for the Cubs.
