2-0 at Weeghman Park (Wrigley Field).

In the 1st game of a doubleheader, Tex Carelton pitches a 1-hitter in a 3-0 win over the Braves.  Cubs defeat the Braves 3-2 in 2nd game to sweep the doubleheader.

Cubs rookie Paul Erickson wins his first MLB game with a 1-hit shutout in a 1-0 victory over the Pirates at Wrigley Field.

At Crosly Field, the Cubs defeat the Reds 3-0 as Bill Lee pitches a 5-hit complete game shutout.

Hank Wyse and the Cubs defeat the Braves 3-2 at Braves Field.  Wyse pitches all 12 innings and gives up just 7 hits and 2 runs to earn the victory.

Cubs defeat the Reds 2-1 in 11 innings on Bill Nicholson's walk-off
home run.

Johnny Schmitz gets a well earned win pitching all 11 innings for Cubs. 

And the Cubs pull off a triple play in the 7th inning.

Sam Jones pitches a 4-hit shutout in a 1-0 Cubs win over the Dodgers. Gene
Baker's 8th inning home run off Don Newcombe gives him only his 2nd loss
of the season (18 wins).  Both of Newcombe's losses were to the Cubs (6/12/55).

Ron Santo's 10th inning HR (his 2nd of game) helps Cubs defeat the Dodgers 5-4 at Wrigley Field.

August 8, 1965
In the 2nd game of a doubleheader, the Cubs overcome an 8-2 deficit to defeat the Mets 14-10.  Cubs score 6 runs in the 9th inning.

At Atlanta Stadium, the Cubs defeat the Braves 4-0 as Bill Hands pitches a 3-hit complete game shutout.  Phil Regan loses 2 outs and a strike call for illegal pitches (look up at BCB or SABR)

At Wrigley Field, Cubs defeat the Giants 8-0.  Milt Pappas pitches a 6-hit complete game shutout in the 2nd game of a doubleheader.  It is Pappas 2nd straight shutout (8/4/1971).

Bobby Murcer homers twice in a 7-6 loss to the Pirates at Three Rivers
Stadium in Pittsburgh.

Cliff Johnson hits a walk-off grand slam in the 14th inning for an 8-4 Cubs win over the Expos at Wrigley Field.

At Wrigley Field, the Cubs make 2 comebacks, in the 6th inning, Jay Johnstone's 3-run home run and Steve Henderson's RBI triple ties the game 4-4 and in the 8th inning, Cubs score 4 again as Johnstone homers again, Jerry Morales has an RBI single and Ryne Sandberg has a 2-run triple (all off Tug McGraw).  Cubs defeat the Phillies 8-5.

The first scheduled night game at Wrigley Field is rained out.  Cubs choose season ticket holder, Harry Grossman to turn on the lights at Wrigley Field.

 Cubs 4 Cardinals 3 in 15 innings.  0-0 after 9 innings.  Jose Deleon of Cardinals and Mike Harkey of Cubs have a pitcher's duel as the Cubs and Cardinals go into 10th inning with a 0-0 tie.

Mike Harkey gave up 8 hits and 7 walks in 9 innings.

Cardinals score 2 in 10th inning and Cubs score 2 in bottom of 10th
off former Cubs pitcher, Lee Smith.

Cardinals score in 13th inning, but Cubs score in bottom of the 13th

Andre Dawson's bases loaded single gives the Cubs a 4-3 walk-off

Steve Wilson pitched 4 relief innings and gave up just one run.
