the MLB debut of Billy Williams.  Cubs defeated the Phillies 4-2 at
Wrigley Field. Williams went 0 for 4.

August 6, 1976
At Jerry Parc, the Cubs & Expos are scoreless for 8 innings until Jerry
Morales homers in the 9th.  Steve Stone pitches a 4-hit complete game
shutout as the Cubs defeat the Expos 1-0. 

August 6, 1987
Andre Dawson homers twice in a 7-6 Cubs loss to the Mets at Wrigley
Field. 

August 6, 1988
Goose Gossage becomes just 2nd relief pitcher in MLB history to record
300 saves (Rollie Fingers was the first). Cubs defeat Phillies 7-4. 

August 6, 1993
Cubs score all of their runs on home runs as Sammy Sosa drives in the
Cubs first 3 runs with 2 home runs.  A 3-run 9th inning rally led by back to back home runs by Kevin Roberson and Rick Wilkens helps the Cubs defeat the Cardinals 6-4 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

A very sad day in Cubs history as long time announcer, Jack Brickhouse
passes away at the age of 82.

August 6, 1999
Cubs defeat the Astros 6-0 in the 2nd game of a doubleheader, Andrew
Lorraine pitches a 3-hit complete game shutout in his Cubs debut. It is
the only CG shutout of his entire MLB career.

Mark Grace records his first career 5 hit game in an 8-6 Cubs loss to the
Padres.

Cubs score 8 runs in the 3rd inning as Mark DeRosa hits a grand slam and Alfonso Soriano hits a 3-run home run as the Cubs defeat the Astros 11-4 at Wrigley Field.

Jake Arrieta & Travis Wood combine on a 4-hit shutout as the Cubs defeat the Oakland A's at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
