Anthony Rizzo, 2016 Chicago Cubs World Series Champion

An amazing year for the Cubs, Anthony Rizzo as he was an all-star for the 3rd consecutive year.  He won his first Gold Glove and his first Silver Slugger as the best offensive and defensive first baseman in the National League (only 2 other Cubs, Andre Dawson & Ryne Sandberg have won both awards in the same season).

Here is a look at some of Rizzo's 2016 highlights:

Rizzo's great catch wins award

Rizzo's World Series Game 6 home run

Rizzo's speech at the Cubs parade about David Ross

Top 10 catches include Rizzo helping out David Ross

June 30, 2012 Rizzo hits his first home run with the Cubs in a 3-2 win over the Houston Astros

As the years go on, Anthony Rizzo will be closely linked to the new Cubs management team that includes Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer and Jason McLeod. All 3 of them were instrumental in having Rizzo signing initially with the Boston Red Sox in 2007. Rizzo was than traded to the San Diego Padres, where both Hoyer and Mcleod were and one of the first moves the new Cubs management staff was to trade for the first base prospect they have wanted so much for years. Rizzo has survived Hodgkin's Lymphoma and Jason McLeod was close enough with Rizzo and his family that at one point, he was visiting Rizzo in the hospital during Rizzo's battle with the disease.
Anthony Rizzo walk off home run on July 29, 2012. The Cubs defeat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2 at Wrigley Field

August 5, 2012 game tying 9th inning home run off Dodger's reliever, Kenley Jansen.

Anthony Rizzo plays good defense as well.
